About Me
Hey, I'm Jake!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to explore my work—I'm truly glad you're here. I'm a wedding and portrait photographer based in Downers Grove, IL, and I’ve been telling stories through photographs for over 20 years.
My journey began in a high school art class with a borrowed film SLR and an underexposed roll of oranges (we all start somewhere, right?). But everything changed when a friend showed me their black and white darkroom prints—I was hooked. I went on to study photography at Olivet Nazarene University, and after graduating in 2005, I dove headfirst into professional photography. By 2008, Two Birds Photography was born—a name inspired by the parakeet, symbolizing love, commitment, and connection.
My style is bright, joyful, natural, and from the heart. I’m all about capturing the real stuff: the laughter, the unexpected glances, the goofy dance moves, the quiet in-between moments. Whether I'm photographing a wedding, a newborn, or a branding session, I bring an energetic yet easygoing presence so you can feel like yourself in front of the camera.
When I’m not behind the lens, I’m probably out in nature gathering sticks, admiring trees, or picking up litter. I’m a proud dad to three incredible boys (a.k.a. my unpaid interns), and I share my home with a rescue cat whose passions include snacks and ignoring me. I also love record stores, thrift shops, playing the Pokémon card game, and making art.
I offer a wide range of photography services including wedding photography, fine art black and white photography, family sessions, high school senior portraits, maternity sessions, newborn portraits, business portraits, commercial photography, and interior design photography.
If you’re looking for images that feel as real as the moments themselves—I’d love to connect.
